We’ve all been there. You’re doing the work, you’re following the rules, and someone—a “Blanca” in the front office, a gatekeeping property manager, or a “standard procedure”—tells you No.
Most people hear “No” and start looking for a new plan. They settle. They pack their bags and head to the school district they were told to go to. But if you want to play at the eight-figure level, you have to realize one fundamental truth:
Everything on planet Earth is possible when you do the right things and make a committed decision.

The “Blanca” Hurdle: A Story of Persistence
A few years ago, my daughter Juliana was finishing fourth grade at Jefferson Elementary. She’d been there since kindergarten—student of the month, Lego club, friends everywhere. Then, on the last day of school, the front office manager, Blanca, handed me a paper: “You moved out of the district. You have to find a new school.”
It was 8:07 AM. By 8:12 AM, I had already submitted a choice program application. I spent the entire summer following up. I emailed the principal, I tracked the days left until school started, and I stayed on top of it like a closing deal.
The result? On the Friday before school started, I was told she was denied. I had to sit my daughter down on Sunday night and tell her she was going to a different school. I was destroyed. I felt like I had failed my family.
Moving Mountains at the District Office
I didn’t stay down. That Monday, after dropping her off at a school she didn’t want to be at, I went straight to the San Diego City Schools district office. I didn’t have an appointment. I just showed up with my “receipts”—every email, every confirmation, every proof of my daughter’s hard work.
I met the number two person in the district. I told her the truth: my daughter deserved to finish what she started. Because I had done the right thing (she was a great student, I was an involved parent), I had leverage. She picked up the phone, called the school, and checked the gatekeeper.
The next day, Juliana was back at Jefferson. Why? Because I made a decision.
The 8-Figure Mindset: Pillars of Success
To get what you want, you have to audit how you’re moving through the world. Here are the three pillars we live by:
1. Confidence vs. Arrogance
There is a thin line between the two, and it’s defined by your output.
- Arrogance: When your self-appraisal value is higher than your market value. You think you’re owed something you haven’t earned.
- Confidence: Knowing you have the leverage because you’ve done the work. When you pay your rent on time and sharpen your craft, you deserve the result.
2. The Power of a Committed Decision
Elon Musk is trying to go to Mars. If a human being can figure out how to colonize another planet, you can figure out how to handle your business. Most people fail because they never actually decided. A decision means there is no “maybe.”
3. The Growth Scale
Understanding where you are is the first step to unlocking the next “devil” or challenge.
